About

A resident of Fenton, Michigan, and Pastor of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Dearborn, Andrew began his musical studies on the accordion at seven, winning local and National competitions playing transcriptions of classical orchestral music. He later appeared in the orchestra of Broadway productions at Michigan State University where he holds his degree, with honors, in Psychology. During his religious studies, he studied theater organ techniques with the late Fr. James Miller, and then augmented his studies with Dr. Marilyn Mason while she was on sabbatical from the University of Michigan.

He accompanied Fr. Jim on his second tour of Australia and Norfolk Island, appearing both in joint concerts and solo engagements. Also, scholarships from the University of Michigan enabled him to travel on two Historic Organ Tours led by Dr. Mason covering France, Italy, and Switzerland – playing 58 instruments and participating in ten public concerts. He is on staff at the Detroit Fox, and the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor.  He has also performed twice for the Flint chapter of the AGO.

In addition to his classical and pop concerts, it was in 2003 when Fr. Andrew was invited to play for a public meditation for His Holiness Gayuna Cealo, a Burmese Buddhist Monk. The music so transported Cealo, that he asked Andrew to create two meditation CD’s for the Foundation of Global Harmony. He has performed at the Foundation’s Heart Expos in Japan in ’04 and ’07,  performed at the 11/11 ceremony in Japan in ’11, traveled to Burma and Thailand in Nov. of ’05, is a member of the Global Harmony Band, a member of  ‘Monks Beyond Religion’,  and is one of the volunteers for the Foundation For Global Harmony – USA.

From Father Andrew (From Liner Notes for Cealo: Music For Meditation):

If you force open a budding flower, the petals bend and break. Give it the right soil, water, and nutrients, instead, and the flower will naturally open to its full beauty. Cealo knows the right combination of those ingredients, coupled with encouragement, simplicity, love, compassion, peacefulness, awareness and wisdom to help anyone open to their full beauty. I am humbled and thrilled that this music has been one of those ingredients in his work. I had no idea what I would play for either meditation disc before I actually sat down and began playing. “I” did not create this work, but was happy I could deliver this through me to him and to you. Many Blessings!

All proceeds from the sale of ‘Cealo – Music for Meditation’ and ‘Beyond Light’ go to Cealo’s Foundation for Global Harmony USA (501C3) to support his charitable activities for the children of SE Asia – orphanages, hospitals, vocational schools, etc.
